  • Country, City: Russia, Volgogradskaya oblast

Scam Pattern: Olga Polyakova (alias “Marina”)

The woman calling herself Olga Polyakova (often using the name Marina in correspondence)
presents herself as a 31-year-old teacher for children with disabilities from the town of Ozersk, Chelyabinsk region, Russia.
She contacts foreign men — especially from the United States — through dating sites and direct email introductions,
pretending to be a sincere and kind-hearted woman looking for love and a serious relationship.

Tactics used

  • Fake identity: sends professionally written letters in English under the name “Marina” or “Olga Polyakova,”
accompanied by staged photos and a forged Russian passport and false U.S. visa to appear trustworthy.
  • Emotional bonding: writes warm, poetic messages about loneliness, love, and destiny;
frequently mentions her “difficult but noble job” as a teacher for disabled children to evoke sympathy.
  • Gradual manipulation: begins with daily emails full of admiration and romantic metaphors,
then moves to personal storytelling about her life, family, and supposed struggles.
  • Victim grooming: once emotional trust is established, hints at financial problems — travel,
relocation costs, frozen funds, or family emergencies — creating opportunities to ask for money.
  • Persistence and pressure: repeatedly writes follow-up messages if the victim doesn’t reply,
showing fake concern and disappointment to maintain psychological control.

Typical red flags

  • Letters contain similar templates and phrases found in other romance scam operations based in Russia.
  • Claims to live in a small Russian town but uses English fluently with generic emotional tone.
  • Refuses to make video calls or meet in person, citing “poor connection” or “no internet.”
  • Provides inconsistent personal details (names, birthdays, professions) in different letters.
  • Uses email address marinanoccho@gmail.com and claims to have a “frozen” bank account or visa issues when requesting help.

Conclusion

This is a classic long-term romance scam designed to emotionally manipulate victims and extract money under
the illusion of love and partnership. The scammer uses emotional writing, forged identity documents, and multiple aliases to gain trust
and then exploit it for financial gain.
